The GEM-40-4 from Brimrose Corporation is a free space Acousto-Optic Modulator (AOM) that has a spectral range of 2000 nm - 11,000 nm. This AOM has a rise time of 125 ns and an active aperture of 1.5 mm. It has a modulation bandwidth of 5 MHz and a diffraction efficiency of 70 %. This AOM supports 2 RF drivers (FFA-XX-B1-FY or FFA-XX-B2-FY) that have quartz crystal referenced phase-locked loop frequency control. They have a frequency accuracy of 0.015 % and harmonic content of up to - 20 dBc. These AOM drivers have a minimum frequency stability of 0.0015% (after 15-minute warm-up) and the output power is optimized for peak efficiency with the supplied AO device.
The GEM-40-4' RF drivers feature all the necessary components to drive the modulator with analog or digital input control. The rise/fall time and modulation rate are set to match AO modulator requirements. These RF drivers have 2 distinct modulation types; Analog amplitude modulation with a modulation input of 50 Ohms; 0 - 1 V and TTL-compatible modulation with a modulation input of 330 Ohms; 0 - 5 V. They require an AC voltage of 90 - 240 V and consumes 55 W of power. It is available in a package that measures 190 x 100 x 220 mm with a detachable AC line cord & RF cable and is ideal for TTL/digital amplitude modulation, analog amplitude modulation, photo processing, laser displays, micromachining, pulse picking and OEM design applications.
