The LI8020SA from Canon is an RGB/Monochrome CMOS Image Sensor that has a resolution of 250 Megapixels. It has a rolling shutter that delivers a frame of 5 fps in full frame and an imaging area of 29.38 x 18.88 mm. This APS-H format image senor has a sensitivity of 4600 e/lx/sec (green) & 11000 e/lx/sec (monochrome) with dark random noise of 3.8 e-rms.
The LI8020SA minimizes noise without sacrificing speed by sharing floating diffusion capacitance between multiple pixels, resulting in shrunken readout circuitry and larger photodiode sizes. It uses 16 digital output channels to handle the enormous amount of image data created by roughly 250 million effective pixels. This image sensor also uses single Region of Interest (ROI) windowing to achieve faster frame rates through reduced resolution, creating flexibility in performance.
The LI8020SA is ideal for 3D metrology, aerial mapping, aeronautic imaging, digital archiving, document scanning, flat panel display inspection, Intelligent traffic systems (ITS), machine vision, medical imaging, packaging & inspection, aeronautics, transportation, scientific research, security and wide area surveillance applications.
