The HWK1411 from Fairchild Imaging is a 1.6 Megapixel Mono/Color CMOS Image Sensor that is designed for professional imaging. It has a rolling type shutter in a 1” optical format that provides a framerate of up to 120 fps. This image sensor has a dynamic range of 82 dB and read noise of 0.5 e- RMS. It has a quantum efficiency (QE) of 80% and a dark current of 2 e-/sec. This image sensor requires a DC supply of 5, 3.3, 2.5, 1.8, 1.4, 1.2 and -2.5V and consumes less than 750 mW of power. It can be controlled via an SPI 40 MHz interface and uses a 4-lane MIPI CSI-2 interface for output that delivers a data rate of 1.5 Gbps/lane.
The HWK1411 uses Fairchild Imaging’s new sCMOS 3.0 BSI technology that delivers a broad spectrum NIR-QE out to 1100 nm to enhance nightglow sensitivity. It also reduces dark current to enable lower dark signal noise and maintain high image quality under high temperature conditions. This image sensor has an 11-bit ADC resolution and uses Fairchild Imaging’s proven dual gain amplifier architecture that results in 16 bits per pixel to encompass the full dynamic range. This architecture optimizes both dynamic range and low light noise and results in a high native dynamic range that can be further extended utilizing the sensor’s multiple-exposure HDR operating modes. It also has several internal ISP features like fixed pattern noise correction, HG/LG merging, 2x2 binning, companding, black level correction, AE statistics engine, windowing, defective pixel correction and multiple exposure HDR.
The HWK1411 is available in a 121 Pin CLGA package that measures 22.6 x 22.6 mm with AR coverglass and is ideal for soldier-worn systems, unmanned vehicles, targeting and surveillance applications.
