The OH0TA from OmniVision Technologies is a 160K CMOS Image Sensor that is specially designed for medical applications. It is based on OmniVision’s PureCel Plus-S stacked die technology that quadruples the RGB image resolution to 400 x 400 and reduces power consumption by 20%. This pseudo-global shutter image sensor has a frame rate of 30 fps and an optical size of 1/31 inches. It provides high color fidelity and has low-light sensitivity of 3600 mV/lux-sec with a high signal-to-image ratio of 37.5 dB. The image sensor can also interface with OmniVision’s OV426 analog-to-digital conversion bridge chip for backward compatibility and is autoclavable for reusable endoscope sterilization. It requires a DC supply of 3.3 V and can be controlled via an SPI interface.
The image sensor consists of a 15.5° chief ray angle which enables the use of lenses with high fields-of-view and short-focus distances. It can improve the visualization of tissues by providing images with fine details during medical procedures such as neuro, ophthalmic, ENT, cardiac, spinal, urology, gynecology, arthroscopy, dentistry, veterinary diagnosis, and surgery. The image sensor is available in a 4-pin CSP package that measures 550 x 550 μm and is ideal for medical endoscopes, robotic surgery, medical and dental equipement, guidewires, and catheter applications.
