The OV16A from OmniVision is a 16 Mega Pixel CMOS Image Sensor with a 1.0-micron pixel size. Built on OmniVision’s PureCelPlus stacked die technology, it has an active array size of 4656 x 3496 mm and offers a maximum image transfer rate of 90 frames per second (fps). This image sensor features programmable controls for frame rate, mirror, and flip, binning, cropping, and windowing functions. It integrates a 4-cell color filter array that allows the user to consistently capture high-quality photos without motion blur. It requires a supply of 1.2 V and supports the standard serial SCCB interface. The image sensor enables the smartphone camera to capture higher quality photos due to advanced pixel architecture.
The OV16A features an automatic black level calibration (ABLC) and supports horizontal and vertical subsampling, 10-bit RGB RAW output, dynamic DCP cancellation, and image sizes of 1280 x 720. It has a programmable I/O drive capability and can be integrated with a 4 -lane MIPI Tx interface which has a speed of up to 1.8 Gbps/lane.
This image sensor also provides a 2/3 tria CPHY interface for greater throughput using fewer pins and supports up to 1.6 Gsps/tria. It is integrated with three on-chip PLLs and has an in-built temperature sensor. This compact image sensor is available in a module that measures 6.5 x 6 mm and is ideal for smartphones, video conferencing, and PC multimedia applications.
