The OX03A2S from OmniVision Technologies is a 2.5 MP, ASIL-B Image Sensor with 3.2-micron pixel size. It enables high-end and high-mainstream mobile designers to create the thinnest possible smartphones with 1/2.44” optical format. Built on Nyxel technology, this sensor provides the best low light performance of any automotive image sensor. The automotive imaging benchmark opens new possibilities for the exterior, close-range cameras within the camera belt, operating in near or total darkness. These features make the OX03A2S ideal for exterior imaging applications that operate in low to no ambient light conditions within 2 meters of the vehicle.
The device integrates an image sensor processor with defective pixel cancelation, HDR combination, Automatic black level correction, and PWL compression functions. The sensor has a pixel data of 12b RAW RGB-Ir with a power requirement of 370 mW for active streaming. It has a full-frame rate of 50 fps (1280p) and 60 fps (1080p) and has a high-speed serial data transfer with MIPI CSI-2. The OX03A2S has an external frame synchronization capabilities with an embedded temperature sensor and OTP memory.
This image sensor provides the industry’s best image quality, smallest size, highest 940 nm near-infrared sensitivity, and lowest power consumption for the exterior, short-range machine vision applications. This enables the OX03A2S to detect and recognize objects that other image sensors would miss under extremely low lighting conditions, enabling more capable safety systems. It enhances the RGB image captures in bright conditions by improving sensitivity. This provides automotive designers with the flexibility to display high quality, NIR-enhanced, viewable RGB image during the day, and a high-quality machine vision image in both day and night environments.
The OX03A2S has an active array size of 1920 x 1280 and comes in an 80 pin CSP package that is 50% smaller than the competition to keep the camera out of view and improve styling. It supports output formats such as single exposure HDR, dual exposure HDR with a dynamic range of 120 dB. This AEC-Q100 Grade 2 Certified sensor is ideal for in-cabin monitoring and autonomous driving applications.
