The ISOCELL GN5 from Samsung Semiconductors is a 50 Mega Pixel Image Sensor that is designed for capturing 8K videos and pictures. It has an electronic rolling & global reset shutter feature that can capture videos at a frame rate of 30 fps in 8K, 120 fps in 4K, & 240 fps in FHD and images at a frame rate of 27 fps in 50 MP, 10 fps in 100 MP mode & 90 fps in 12.5 MP. This tetrachromatic image sensor has a 10-bit ADC and a dual tetrapixel RGB bayer pattern in a 1/1.57" optical format. It delivers a data rate of 3.5 Gbps per trio through its 3 trios interface (C-PHY) and up to 2.5 Gbps per lane through its 4-lane interface (D-PHY).
The ISOCELL GN5 features Dual Pixel Pro technology along with a Front Deep Trench Isolation (FDTI) design to achieve fast autofocus (PDAF) in all lighting conditions. Dual pixel Pro technology places two photodiodes within each 1.0 μm pixel of the sensor either horizontally or vertically to recognize pattern changes in all directions. This image sensor also uses Samsung's Tetrapixel Technology to combine four neighboring 1 μm pixels together and make them work like one large 2.0 μm pixel. Tetrapixel Technology combined with Smart-ISO solution helps reduce noise in challenging light conditions. Smart-ISO technology (iDCG) also combines with Staggered HDR to produce final HDR images with 12-bit color depth and dynamic range of up to 100 dB.
The ISOCELL GN5 requires a DC supply of 2.2 V (analog), 1.8 V (I/O) and 0.92 V (digital).
