The ISOCELL GN1 from Samsung Semiconductors is a CMOS Image Sensor that delivers a resolution of 50 Mega Pixel. It has a normal frame rate of up to 24 fps at full 50 MP and a video frame rate of 240 fps at 1080p (w/AF). It provides an ADC accuracy of up to 10 bits.

The device utilizes Dual Pixel technology that accelerates the speed and boosts the precision of autofocus capabilities, making it simpler for users to get clear and crisp pictures. Each pixel in the 50 MP image sensor carries two photodiodes, allowing the component to execute ultra-fast autofocus and capture moving objects no matter where they are in the frame. Also, ISOCELL GN1 takes light information from each photodiode to produce a 100 MP resolution photograph by a software algorithm.

The sensor features Smart-ISO technology to optimize gain adjustments resulting in a better dynamic range and less noise. This technology allows the sensor to automatically shoot with low native-ISO in bright settings, while intelligently switching to high native-ISO in darker environments so that the photo can show an optimal dynamic range for each situation with less noise.

The sensor also features Real-time HDR technology that quickly produces stunning images and videos with a high dynamic range. In challenging lighting environments, the technology allows the sensor to preview and capture scenes in multiple exposures simultaneously and generate HDR images in real-time. By emulating how the human eye sees, real-time HDR’s ability to optimize exposure for different areas of the frame makes it possible for the sensor to produce vivid images and videos with exceptional detail and contrast.

The ISOCELL GN1 comes with 1.2 μm-sized pixels that are equipped with outstanding light sensitivity and produce true-to-life photographs. These pixels allow the sensor to capture blur-free images even in dim-lit situations. With minimal optical loss and light reflection, the sensor delivers substantial improvements in color reproduction and light sensitivity, bringing naturalistic tones and shades to high-resolution photography. This sensor maximizes the benefits of large pixels by using Tetracell technology, which combines four neighboring pixels into one 2.4 μm-sized pixels and quadruples the light sensitivity.
