The VD1940 from STMicroelectronics is a 5.1 Megapixel CMOS Image Sensor that has a resolution of 2560 (H) x 1984 (V) pixels. It has a global or rolling shutter in a 1/2.5" optical format that delivers a frame rate of up to 60 fps. This 3D stacked CMOS image sensor has an HDR linear dynamic range of up to 100 dB (in rolling shutter mode) and image array size of 5.8 mm x 4.5 mm. It has a pixel size of 2.25 µm x 2.25 µm and peak quantum efficiency of 25% (at 940 nm). This backside-illuminated CMOS image sensor has a 12-bit analog-to-digital converter.
The VD1940 has dual exposure controls (RGB & IR) and uses quad lane transmitter MIPI CSI-2, 6 programmable GPIOs (general-purpose input/outputs) & fast mode plus I²C control interfaces. It features RGB/NIR pixel technology with RGB NIR 4 x 4 pattern, on-chip bayerization ISP (image signal processor), and 4 programmable contexts with up to 32 elements. This CMOS image sensor is available in a bare die package and is ideal for a large FoV (field of view) & in-cabin monitoring applications.
