The KD1053 from KDPOF is a Fiber Optic Transceiver (FOT) that operates in two modes: 100 Mb/s mode and 1 Gb/s mode. It is a 65nm CMOS Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) that implements the Physical-Coding Sublayer (PCS) and Physical Medium Attachment (PMA) sublayer for gigabit optical communications over Plastic Optical Fiber (POF). This FOT has fully integrated digital adaptive non-linear equalizers with a bit error ratio (BER) below 10-12 (for 1 Gb/s and 100 Mb/s operation modes). It has a latency of 6.2 μs (for 1 Gb/s) and 1.4 μs (for 100 Mb/s).
The KD1053 has an RMS jitter of 5 ns (for 1 Gb/s mode) and 9 ns (for 100 Mb/s mode). It requires a DC supply voltage of 1.2 V & 3.3 V and consumes 460 mW (at 1 Gbps) of power. This FOT supports MAC (serial & parallel), SMI, and SPI/I2C master interfaces. It is available in a 56-pin QFN ROHS package that measures 7 mm x 7 mm and is ideal for communications in vehicle data networks, interconnection of infotainment, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Electronic Control Units (ECUs), and automotive applications.
