The VFI-1200 from Arden Photonics is an Interferometric Inspection System that is designed for checking surface quality and flatness of cleaved or polished fibers. It has a maximum field of view of 1200 μm with x1.5, x2, x3 and x6 digital zoom. This interferometer has a 64 MP CMOS array image sensor in a 1/1.8 inch optical format, 12-bit ADC and a 525 nm LED. It can measure cleave angles of up to 8° (2D) in real-time and 4° (3D) with a measurement time of less than 7 s. This interferometer has an inspect & fringe mode in 2D mode and an automated/manual end angle measurement feature that can produce 3D end face heigh maps. It can be controlled via a USB 3.0 interface which is also used as the power supply.
The VFI-1200 is available in a benchtop module that measures 240 x 240 x 90 mm and is ideal for precision cleaver manufacture, cleaver maintenance, laser manufacture, medical device manufacture, fiber R&D, specialty fiber manufacture, development and testing of angled cleavers, device pig-tailing, LDF cleaver manufacture/maintenance, fiber end cap manufacturing and multi-fiber bundle manufacturing applications.
