The SF6040 from Maiman Electronics is a Laser Diode Driver that produces an output voltage of 5 - 40 V and up to 10 A of output current. It has a pulse rate of 0.1 - 100 Hz and pulse duration from 2 to 5000 ms. This laser diode driver has a rise time of 70 - 80 μs and a fall time of 60 μs. It has a ripple current of 15 mA and output capacitance of 13.2 µF. This laser diode driver can handle an input voltage of 12 - 55 V and dissipates 13 W of power. It can be controlled via an analog control signal connector and via RS-232 or UART digital interfaces.
The SF6040 has a soft-start current ramp to the user set point and an NTC thermistor input that shuts down the driver when the laser diode is overheating. It also has protection features like an over current protection with adjustable overcurrent limit, thermal warning & shutdown, reverse current protection and crowbar current protection. This laser diode driver is available in a thermal enhanced quarter-brick package that measures 57.9 x 36.8 x 21 mm with an Aluminum base plate to aid thermal dissipation.
