The SF6090 from Maiman Electronics is a Laser Diode Driver that delivers a maximum output current of 100 A. It has a pulse rate (F) of 0.1 - 100 Hz (QCW mode) and pulse duration of 1/F-2 ms (set by RS-232 or UART) & 0.5 - 1/F ms (set by analog pin). This LDD has an efficiency of up to 98 % with a rise time of 200 µs (at 100 A, output current) & 250 µs (at 50A) and a fall time of 350 µs & 40 µs (error-triggered). It has an output capacitance of 150 µF and produces a ripple current of 20 mA.
The SF6090 is a non-isolated DC/DC SMPS (Point-of-Load) with constant current output. This laser diode driver has protection features such as over-current protection with adjustable limit, soft start, thermal warning and shutdown, reverse current protection, and crowbar circuit protection. It can safely drive non-linear and current quality sensitive loads like laser diodes and LEDs.This LDD can be controlled by analog or digital signals.
The SF6090 requires a minimum input voltage of 10 V and delivers an output voltage of 1 - 0.75 (x input voltage) V. It has an input quiescent current of 80 mA, input capacitance of 2300 µF and dissipates 45 W of power. This laser diode driver is available in a thermal-enhanced half-brick package with an aluminium base plate (to aid thermal dissipation) that measures 61 x 57.9 x 24 mm and is ideal for supplying laser diodes, bars & arrays, and high-power LED arrays.
