The LPLDD-1.5A-12V from Opt Lasers is a Laser Diode Driver that produces an output current of up to 1.5 A. This continuous wave laser diode driver has a rise/fall time of less than 1.5 µs and a noise & ripple current of 4.2 mA (RMS). It can handle an input voltage of 3.3 - 12 V and dissipates up to 15 W of power. This laser diode driver supports analog modulation and has a maximum modulation frequency of 100 kHz. The modulation input of the driver is protected by a 5V1 Zener diode and uses a Schottky diode for Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) protection.

The LPLDD-1.5A-12V has a soft-start time of 50 ms which protects against switch-on effects. The proper shunt resistor and customized parts assure low noise even with small current values. This laser diode driver has a large surface of copper which cools the sense resistor. It is available in a package that measures 30 x 15 mm and is ideal for single and multi-mode laser diode applications.
