The Ariel from Ophir Optronics is a Short Exposure High Power Sensor that operates from 440-550 nm, 900-1100 nm, and 2.94 & 10.6 µm. In pulse mode, it can measure high-power industrial lasers with a power of up to 8 kW with an exposure time of 0.05-2.00 seconds. In continuous mode, the sensor can measure lasers with a power of up to 500 W with an irradiation time up to 20 seconds. It consists of a single pulse that can carry up to 2.4 kJ of energy and has a maximum operating temperature of 60°C. The sensor requires a cooling time of 10 minutes in between 14 kJ shots after attaining maximum temperature. It has a USB-C interface and can be controlled via a smartphone and PC.
The Ariel is a dust-proof, splash-proof power sensor with an LCD flashing display, an 1100 mAh rechargeable battery with a 15 hour battery life. It operates as per the convective cooling mechanism and has IP62-rated ingress protection that can withstand non-condensing relative humidity of 10-80 %. This sensor is available in a package that measures 70 x 70 x 80 mm and is ideal for usage in tight spaces such as additive manufacturing chambers as well as for production process quality control and R&D applications.
