The FSL 500 from PicoQuant is a Fast-Switched Diode Laser that operates at a wavelength from 375 to 1550 nm. It delivers up to 40 mW of power, has a pulse width between 3 to 100 ns, and a repetition rate from a single shot to 12 MHz. This laser has an ultra-short rise time of 0.3 ns and a fall time down to 0.8 ns.

The FSL 500 is available in a compact unit that measures 237 × 310 × 97 mm with a BNC (F) and SMA (F) connector at the external trigger input and synchronization output respectively and interchangeable laser heads, which can be fitted to single- or multi-mode optical fibers. The control unit contains the power supply, an internal pulse rate generator and a driver stage that allows controlling the duration of the laser pulse regardless of the selected amplitude. This laser is a perfect fit for the time response characterization of optoelectronic devices, semiconductor device testing, printing industry (computer-to-plate technology CTP), optical data storage, and direct photolithography applications.
