The iBeam smart from TOPTICA Photonics is a Single Mode Laser Diode that operates from 375 to 1064 nm. It provides output power from 10-450 mW and has an RMS noise of less than 0.2%. This linearly polarized laser diode has a vertical radiation pattern and pointing stability of less than 5 µrad/K. It requires a DC supply of 12 V and consumes 2 A of current. The laser diode supports analog modulation up to 1 MHz, digital modulation up to 250 MHz, and can be controlled by TTL and RS-232 interfaces.
The iBeam smart is integrated with a Feedback Induced Noise Eraser (FINE) function that makes the laser insensitive to optical back reflections and guarantees low noise operation even in the case of fiber coupling. It also consists of the SKILL speckle reduction feature (Speckle KILLer), which minimizes and stabilizes the coherence length of the laser at the push of a button. This laser diode is available in a module that measures 40 x 40 x 100 cubic mm and is ideal for microscopy, flow cytometry, DNA sequencing, microarray scanners, metrology, inspection, microlithography, computer-to-plate printing, disc mastering, Raman spectroscopy, diffuse correlation spectroscopy (DSC), and interferometry applications.
