The APD210 from Menlo Systems is a Silicon Avalanche Photodiode (APD) that has a spectral range of 400 nm - 1000 nm. It has a 3 dB bandwidth of 5 MHz - 1000 MHz and detector diameter of 0.5 mm. This free space photodiode has a photosensitivity of 1 A/W and Noise Equivalent Power (NEP) of 0.24 pW/rt(Hz) (at 800 nm). It has a frequency range of 1 MHz - 1600 MHz and maximum gain of 2.5 x 105 V/W (at 800 nm). This photodiode has a rise time of 500 ps, dark state noise level of -80 dBm, and an output impedance of 50 Ohms.
The APD210 photodiode has an integrated radio frequency amplifier and continuously adjustable gain setting with temperature compensated setup. It has BNC connectors and is long-term field-tested in FC8004 and FC1500 optical frequency synthesizers. This photodiode requires a DC supply voltage of 12 V - 15 V, consumes 200 mA of current, and dissipates 10 mW of power. It is available in a compact package and is ideal for fast laser pulses, ultra-low light level signals, and beat signals of low-level input applications.
