The Orbitrap IQ-X Tribrid from Thermo Fisher Scientific is a Mass Spectrometer that has a mass range from 50 to 2000 m/z with a mass resolution of 7500–500000 (optional resolution of up to 1,000,000 at 200 m/z) at FWHM. It uses a dual-dynode detector with a Dynamic Range of over 5000 and has an expectational mass accuracy of less than 3 ppm. This mass spectrometer has an isotopic fidelity of up to 240,000 at FWHM and has an MSn data acquisition rate of up to 40 Hz & 45 Hz for orbitrap & ion trap mass analyzer respectively.
The Orbitrap IQ-X Tribrid uses multiple fragmentation techniques like Collison induced dissociation (CID), higher-energy collisional dissociation (HCD) and optional ultraviolet photodissociation (UVPD). It also performs mass analysis in the quadrupole, the linear ion trap or the orbitrap mass analyzer for structural identification and characterization of small molecules. This mass spectrometer has a tribrid architecture with an intelligent MSn data acquisition that uses Real-Time Library Search which improves annotation and structural characterization of unknown analytes. It features automated, remote, and hands-free calibration which allows users to spend more time on obtaining results than that spent on instrumental setup and uses Xcalibur software as its control software.
The Orbitrap IQ-X Tribrid requires a single-phase AC voltage of 230 ± 10% and consumes 15 A of current. It is available in a Benchtop package that measures 1270 x 767 x 703 mm and is ideal for small molecule identification, unknown compound identification, and accurate lipid identification applications.
