The Emerald 3.2M from Teledyne e2v is a 3.2 Megapixel CMOS Image Sensor that is designed for embedded vision applications. It has a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels with an aspect ratio of 4:3. The global shutter sensor has a size of 1/2.5 inches with a pixel size of 2.8 sq.µm. It provides a dynamic range of 66 dB in normal mode and above 100 dB in HDR mode. The sensor provides a quantum efficiency of 65% at 550 nm output and consumes less than 450 W of power. It is compatible with Image Signal Processors (ISPs) and Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) that support MIPI CSI-2 interface.
The Emerald 3.2M is available in B&W or color options for color filter arrays and has several options of chief ray angles to match the optical conditions in various applications. It supports multiple trigger modes and can perform defective pixel correction. The sensor can be configured to provide image statistics and context output. It is available in a ceramic/LGA package that measures 15 x 16 sq. mm and a BGA package that measures 12 x 14 sq. mm. The CMOS sensor is suitable for application in embedded vision systems, automated optical inspection (AOI), label reading & lots tracking, factory automation, intelligent transportation system, security cameras, and drones/UAVs.
