Alight Technologies is extending the market for Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers (VCSELs) through its proprietary Photonic BandGap (PBG) technology. Using this technology we are able to increase the single mode output power or improve the characteristics of high speed VCSELs, thus offering an alternative to edge emitting lasers. With the intent to meet an increasing demand for high-power and high-speed single mode VCSELs at 1300 nm, Alight Technologies acquired Infineon Technologies' 1300 nm VCSEL platform. The combination of a qualified material platform and the add-on PBG technology creates unique opportunities not only for Alight but also for its partners.
