The MDL-003 from Luna Innovations is a Motorized Variable Optical Delay Line that has a delay range of up to 100 ps (single-pass). It operates at a wavelength of 840 ± 50 nm, 1060 ± 50 nm & 1260 nm to 1650 nm in Single Mode operation, and 840 nm, 1060 nm, 1310 or 1550 ± 50 nm in Polarization Mode operation. This delay line has an optical delay resolution of 30 µm with an optical delay accuracy of ±40 µm for a single pass. It has an insertion loss of 1dB and a return loss of 55 dB. This delay line has a polarization-dependent loss of 0.15 dB for single-mode fiber and an actuation speed of up to 50 ps/s. It has an optical damage power threshold of 100 mW and a minimum extinction ratio of 18 dB.
The MDL-003 has a 2-phase stepper motor and two position sensors for precise delay control. It is available in a compact and highly stable design that measures 50.8 X 35.56 X 13.97 mm and is ideal for integration in optical coherence tomography (OCT) systems, network equipment and test instruments for precision optical path length control or timing alignment.
