GigPeak has announced the availability for wider-base customer sampling of their GX32222, 32 Gbps dual channel linear TIA / VGA trans-impedance amplifier (TIA) designed for use in 100 Gbps to 200 Gbps DWDM optical receivers used for both long-haul and metro telecom applications. This fundamental TIA design enables their use in a number of currently deployed fiber optic receiver modules of 100 Gbps and 200 Gbps coherent optical systems, as well as future 400 Gbps and beyond applications. The GX32222 is now available for general sampling, after successful completion of initial sampling by a selected number of customers.
The trans-impedance amplifier offers a low-power consumption and cost advantage to competitive solutions for the ever-growing 100G metro and long-haul WDM applications. Ovum projects those 100G port shipments to continue growing with accelerated compound annual growth rate of 25-30% as of 2016 and over the next 4 years till 2020, while being augmented with next generations of higher speed coherent single wavelength solutions, for both line cards and pluggable modules.
The introduction of this product substantiates GigPeak's well accepted GPPO connectorized and SMT drivers for 100 Gbps and 200 Gbps applications, allowing them to provide their customers with ICs for transmit and receive applications.
The key features of the GX32222 TIA include, among others:
- Adjusted frequency range, supporting 28Gbps to 32Gbps
- Low power consumption of 515mW at 3.3V
- Differential Gain > 7,000 ohm
- Linear Gain over 30dB of dynamic range
- Features such as Internal AGC, Output Voltage Control, Peak Detection, Shutdown Mode, and BW adjustment
