The National Optics Institute (INO) has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Centre d'Optique, Photonique et Laser (COPL) and the RIKEN Center for Advanced Photonics in Japan. This memorandum of understanding opens the door to cooperation between the three organizations.

The collaboration activities between these three organizations include the exchange of researchers, staff and students, scientific and technological research materials, and scientific and technological information, including delivering lectures and holding joint seminars and symposia. Joint research projects may also sprout from this partnership, which continues until the end of March 2018, and may be extended by mutual agreement.

The collaboration of these three world-renowned research centers is a major step towards a new era in photonics and  represents a great opportunity for these three organizations to develop new and innovative technologies. The next meeting for the partners is planned for April and focuses on engineering and science in the mid-infrared and THz frequencies including light sources, devices, detectors, applications and basic science.
