Amplitude Laser, a leading manufacturer of ultrafast lasers for scientific, medical, and industrial applications, has announced that it will exhibit its latest and most innovative solutions at Photonics West 2024, from January 27th to February 1st, 2024 (booth #527). The company is recognized worldwide for its role in Nobel Laureates’ publications, in industrial advances, and in major university laboratories’ research work or R&D projects.
Showcasing Innovative Technologies at Photonics West
Amplitude Laser is a leading company in the ophthalmology and screen-cutting industries, and femtosecond laser, which acquired Continuum Electro-Optics in the US, will present five of its flagship products:
- An interactive mock-up of a Petawatt laser solution developed for the German organization HZDR.
- Tangor 300: a femtosecond laser made for industrial and scientific needs. With an average power of 300W, Tangor 300 is the first step towards the creation of lasers three times more powerful.
- Satsuma X: an all-in-one femtosecond laser for comprehensive service in industry and science, scheduled for release in 2024.
- Magma: the world’s first industrial-grade ultrafast laser platform delivering up to 500 mJ pulse energy in picosecond or sub-picosecond units.
- OPA-OPCPA instruments: generate ultrafast femtosecond laser pulses and enable versatile applications in fields such as spectroscopy, microscopy, and material science.
Nobel Prizes
Recognized worldwide for their technical prowess and innovative nature, Amplitude’s products played a key role in the work of Nobel Prize in Physics winners Alain Aspect (2022) and the team of Gérard Mourou, Arthur Ashkin, and Donna Strickland (2018).
More recently, on December 10, 2023, the company was in the spotlight once again as Mr. Pierre-Mary Paul, Amplitude’s VP of Advanced Laser Solutions, attended the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony 2023 as an active participant in the research work of recipients Pierre Agostini, Ferenc Krausz, and Anne L’Huillier.
Collaborations for Industry and Research
Amplitude’s solutions are also used in numerous prestigious universities and laboratories across the United States and North America, such as Princeton University, the NREL, the University of Michigan, the University of Connecticut, the University of Nebraska, the University of Colorado, and INRS in Canada.
Major Projects Using Lasers by Amplitude Include:
- Research – University of Michigan’s Zeus Program, that aims to create the highest-power laser system in the US and one of the world highest-power lasers for the next decade. Amplitude equips the university with the Zettawatt-Equivalent Ultrashort pulse laser System. Discover more about Amplitude’s contribution here.
- Aeronautics – University of Nebraska’s research is overcoming scalability to produce large quantities of tailored-surfaced raw material. This specialized application uses a 300W, ultrafast laser, designed and manufactured by Amplitude, to modify the micro- and nanoscale features as well as the chemistry of metal materials leading to optimized surface properties for a wide variety of applications such as in space, defense, the medical sector, and more.
- Energy Transition – The National Renewable Energy Laboratory introduced Amplitude’s Femtosecond solutions in its novel roll-to-roll (R2R) laser-processing methods, enabling in-line microstructuring of energy materials for improved performance.
New Technologies and R&D
SLAC’s LCLS-II, the world’s most powerful XFEL laser should revolutionize the ability of scientists to explore atomic-scale, ultrafast phenomena ranging from quantum materials to biological materials to fusion energy. As a pioneer of Yb ultrafast laser technology, Amplitude participated in the LCLS-II upgrade project early on and provided the Tangerine ultrafast laser as the photocathode laser that can produce high energy ultrafast laser pulses at MHz repetition rate.
