G&H, the leading original equipment manufacturer (OEM) in optics, photonics, and life sciences, has officially opened its Innovation Hub for Life Sciences in Rochester, New York, United States. With this new facility, the company extended its 45-year legacy and expertise, which was originally developed at the G&H | ITL facility in Ashford, United Kingdom, to the life sciences market in North America.

Construction of the Innovation Hub began in 2023, and the grand opening took place on May 1st, 2025, during a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event featured speeches by Rochester Mayor Malik D. Evans, Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Robert J. Duffy, and G&H’s Executive Vice President of Life Sciences, Bryan Bothwell.

The G&H facility in Rochester is strategically designed to bridge the gap between R&D activities and full-scale production, reducing time-to-market for a myriad of life science applications. By housing research, prototyping, and ISO:13485-certified, high-volume manufacturing under one roof, G&H is providing partners with seamless support from concept to commercialization.

“Most R&D institutions focus on research and prototyping. What we have learned through our extensive manufacturing experience for medtech applications is that even if you have the most brilliant idea, that does not guarantee it being translated into something that can be made to scale,” comments Bryan Bothwell, Executive Vice President Life Sciences at G&H. “In the end, if the device doesn’t leave the lab to reach patients, it will inadvertently be of no use for the larger healthcare ecosystem. That is why we are excited about this unique opportunity of opening our G&H Innovation Hub for Life Sciences in Rochester, New York. Not only are we planting a flag in one of the most innovative cities in the United States in terms of talent and synergy opportunities, but we will be one of the very few corporate entities delivering full-service engineering design and commercial manufacturing specifically for medical devices in the region. Our goal with this new Hub is to focus on translating innovation into quality and cost-accessible production. Everyone can feel good about contributing to saving human lives. We want to feel even better by making it happen and making it accessible.”

The Rochester facility also caters to specific volume medical consumable manufacturing needs, as it has a long-standing history of precision injection molding and now has the infrastructure for more than 100 million medical consumable devices per year. The partnering matrix of instrument design, manufacturing, and consumables is unique to the life sciences company in this space.

G&H has been a trusted partner in medical device innovation for over 45 years, supporting both start-ups and global industry leaders in delivering life enhancing technology. Our vertically integrated approach ensures efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with the highest quality standards for ISO:13485, making the company a partner-of-choice for scientific innovation and seamless medtech manufacturing. Through the new Innovation Hub for Life Sciences in Rochester, New York, G&H is ready to expand its capabilities even further, fueling performance for the healthcare sector.
