Sixdof Space has selected Newsight Imaging’s NSI3000 sensor for its advanced 6DOF (Six Degrees Of Freedom) positional tracking solution. The advanced sensor was chosen following benchmarking and successful proof-of-concept. Sixdof and Newsight are collaborating on the development of a high-sensitivity, cost-effective, NSI3000-family sensor, which will be customized for OEM mass production of systems that use Sixdof Space’s positional tracking technology.

NSI3000 is an advanced CMOS image sensor chip for LiDAR applications used in ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) and in autonomous vehicles. It offers extremely high sensitivity pixels, enabling the replacement of expensive CCD (charge-coupled device) sensors in many applications. The NSI3000 is designed for programmable high frame rate speeds, allowing better analysis and reaction to events.

NSI3000 is specifically designed for LiDAR applications, using eight rows of 2048 pixels made of four rows of 4µm x 8µm pixels and four rows of 4µm x 4µm pixels. The large pixels provide high sensitivity, while the small pixels can provide a fine signal with effective resolution of 8192 with low power dissipation and compact size. Click here to know more.
