The Tau 2+ from Teledyne FLIR is a Longwave Infrared (LWIR) Thermal Camera that has a resolution of 640 x 480 (VGA). It has a 640 × 512 VOx Microbolometer thermal imager that delivers a frame rate of 30/60 fps (NTSC) and 25/50 fps (PAL). This camera has a spectral range of 7.5-13.5 µm and a sensitivity better than 25 mK. Its image processing algorithm provides clear thermal details in challenging environments, new level of minimum resolvable temperature difference (MRTD), low image noise and improves scene contrast with blacker blacks and whiter whites. This camera is designed for the most challenging environments including detection of the smallest, hardest to find targets over long distances. It uses an 8/14 bit serial LVDS, 8/14-bit parallel CMOS or 8-bit BT.656 interface for output. This camera can be controlled via USB, CMOS, Camera Link or Ethernet interfaces.
The Tau 2+ requires a DC supply of 4-6 V and consumes up to 1.2 W of power. It is available in an M24/M29 lens mount module that measures 82 x 82 x 145.08 mm and is ideal for unmanned vehicles, handheld imagers, security cameras, maritime cameras and thermal sight applications.
