The PHY1090 from Maxim Integrated is a Linear Transimpedance Amplifier (TIA) that has a transimpedance of 2 kOhm. It has a -3 dB bandwidth of 6 GHz and differential output swing of 200 mV & 300 mV (peak-to-peak). This TIA has a low-frequency cut-off of up to 15 kHz and gain flatness of ± 1.5 dB. It can handle an input current of up to 2 mA (peak-to-peak) and has input-referred noise of up to 1100 nA (RMS). This TIA has a return loss of 20dB and total harmonic distortion of 2% - 6.5%.
The PHY1090 integrates automatic gain control (AGC) and PIN filter capacitor & resistor. It produces OMA-based RSSI output current with an RSSI accuracy of 30% and has an RSSI response time of 40 ms. This TIA requires a DC supply of 3.3 V and is available in a die package that measures 1.169 mm x 0.929 mm. It is ideal for EDC-enabled fiber optic receivers, OC192 telecom systems, and IEEE 10GBASE-LRM receiver systems.
