In present scenario, with the increase in awareness towards environmental degradation due to the production, use and disposal of Chloro-Fluoro-Carbons (CFCs) and Hydro Chloro-Fluoro-Carbons (HCFCs) as refrigerants in conventional refrigeration and air conditioning systems has become a subject of great concern and resulted in extensive research into development of alternate refrigeration systems. Thermoelectric cooling provides a promising alternative technology due to its distinct advantages. A thermoelectric refrigerator is a refrigerator that uses the Peltier effect to create a heat flux between the junctions of two different types of materials.
