Dust is present in all human occupied indoor environments Inhalation of dust is a major source of human exposure to microbes and chemicals in the indoor environment, including on the International Space Station (ISS). Despite over 20 years of continuous operation of the ISS, we do not yet have a comprehensive understanding of how Dust from Astronauts and Space Habitats (DASH) impacts the health of astronauts, the integrity of materials onboard, or on planetary protection. DASH also creates a significant amount of waste.
