Long-duration spaceflight is associated with significant risks including prolonged exposure to microgravity and low-dose/low-dose rate radiation. Previous studies in mice exposed to both spaceflight and simulated spaceflight have identified increased oxidative stress and activation of the innate inflammatory response as major contributors to physiological changes associated with spaceflight, including alterations to the cardiovascular and musculoskeletal system, metabolism, and the liver1-3 .
