The ORCA-Quest is the first quantitative CMOS camera which has photon number resolving capability. Photon number resolving is uniqe and quite different from photon counting number of photoelectrons. Photon counting is well- known as a quantitative method of measurement because it can mitigate the readout noise and multiplication noise. The ORCA-Quest has extremely low readout noise and can therefore realize photon counting.
