Each methodology offers different benefits and cost profiles (technician hours, number of OTDRs) to be reviewed carefully by operators to make optimal choices, fitting their business goals. The dual-ended testing approach might be appealing for its ability to guarantee polarity, and to ensure the entry connectors are both measured bidirectionally. However, from an OPEX perspective it costs at least twice as much as other methodologies.
