An optical loss test set (OLTS) is a well-known device for its advantages in speed and accuracy over the more conventional light source and power meter. This makes the OLTS a great fit for applications with high fiber counts such as FTTH PON networks, structured cabling and data center installs. The ability to automate the OLTS using the FasTesT™ technology is what established EXFO’s previous FOT-910, FOT-920 and FOT-930 MaxTesters as the standard for the above-mentioned applications. Although the quality of the measurement was great on those earlier testers, there was still room for improvement.
