This application note considers DWDM laser sources providing a high stability in terms of power and frequency, and emitting on specific level function (e.g., ramp, sinus). It shows how to control the power output of a DWDM laser source. A multiple DWDM channel with 100-GHz-spacing in the C-band can be implemented by multiplexing 40 OSICS DFB modules. The DWDM spectrum is displayed on an OSA20, which works simultaneously as an active component in the closed-loop power control by feeding-back the optical power per channel. After several iterations involving power adjustments, different functions can be finally obtained as DWDM output signal, such as a flat level, a ramp-up or a ramp-down.
