Mounting Considerations for High Power Laser Diodes
As the optical power of laser diodes increases into the tens and even hundreds of watts, the thermal design of the laser diode mount becomes more important. When selecting or designing a laser diode mount the total heat generated by the laser diode and thermoelectric modules must be considered. This total heat will be used to determine which type and size of heat sink is required for the application. This application note will cover thermal resistance design and different types of heat sinks.
