We have shown a method to construct a multi-stack laserline notch filter with a 3 dB bandwidth of 9 cm−1 (0.55 nm) and optical density of 5.7 that is maintained upon wavelength tuning. We have also developed a wavelength locked ASE filtered semi-conductor source near 785 nm as a compact single frequency excitation source. The ASE filtered laser source is necessary to observe the low frequency Raman signal.
