As part of the continuing improvement of Newport hexapod products, hardware and firmware are updated on a regular basis. Sometimes, it is necessary to upgrade your hexapod controller to avail of the latest features. With RightPathTM and the GroupReady API, these reduce the risk of collisions. Below are two new features that can now be utilized with hexapods using the latest firmware version. Typically, a firmware upgrade is straightforward, but with older hexapods, the hardware may not be compatible. If you purchased an HXP-ELEC prior to September 2012, you will have a firmware version earlier than V2.0.0 (1.4.2 or older), which will not have QNX kernels V1.3.0 or V2.1.0. Installing the newer firmware would not work because the newer firmware works with the newer QNX hardware.
