PKC (protein kinase C) is a signal transmission molecule existing in receptor tyrosine kinase and the downstream of G protein-linked receptors, and many types of substrates are known to phosphorylate due to PKC. Through those substrates, PKC is involved in a wide range of physiological functions such as cell proliferation, gene expression, receptor control, ion channel gating and apoptosis, playing a key role in signal transmission within cells.
