INO uses LaserNGN gain modules to demonstrate that its tapered, Yb-doped fiber can be used to fabricate pulsed lasers with an average power of 200 W or more. For over 30 years, INO has been on the cutting edge of rare-earth-doped optical fiber. This fiber is generally used as an amplifying medium in fiber lasers. The wavelength it producse changes based on the doping ion. Ytterbium- (YB) doped optical fiber is often selected for applications requiring lasers with a wavelength of around 1µm.
