Polyethylene (PE) is one of the most common plastics in the world with annual global production of around 80 million tons.1 Based on density, polyethylene is generally classified as high-density polyethylene (HDPE, > 0.940 g/cm3 ) or low-density polyethylene (LDPE, < 0.930 g/cm3 ).
