Burst Picker for CW Mode-Locked Lasers

In this Application Note we describe Newport Corporation’s new Burst Picker. When used in conjunction with a CW mode-locked laser such as Spectra-Physics® Mai Tai ® DeepSeeTM, the Burst Picker excites samples via a “burst” mode. In this mode, only a user-defined number of laser pulses are selected and employed in the excitation of the specimen (Figure 1). In addition, the burst repetition rate can be tuned within a wide range of values accommodating in this way the needs of many experimental conditions.
