Leading laser solutions provider, NKT Photonics, has introduced the new Koheras HARMONIK laser system that offers a high-power, frequency-converted and ultra-noise offering upto 7W output. With a market leading low phase noise and narrow line-width at 775-780 nm, it is ideal for ultra-cold atom applications.

The HARMONIK system is a high-power frequency-doubled laser system consisting of NKT’s popular low-noise Koheras fiber laser platform, BOOSTIK, in combination with new frequency converter module, HARMONIK. Depending on their need, customers can choose from two HARMONIK systems, the C7 or the E7. While, the C7 has an exceptionally low relative intensity noise at a RIN level of -140 dBc/Hz at 10 MHz, the E7 has a narrow line-width and very low phase noise, a line- width of <0.2 kHz and a phase noise of -87 dB(rad/√Hz/m) at 10 Hz. The laser system is completely fiber monolithic and maintenance-free with an industrially rugged air-cooled package – ready to handle 24/7 operation in laboratories as well as industrial environments.

NKT believes quantum optics is a critical strategic technology in security as well as civil applications. Important quantum optic techniques such as Doppler laser cooling of atoms and squeezed light require low-noise, narrow line-width lasers, like the HARMONIK system.

Other uses of the HARMONIK include:

  • Quantum optics, computing and phenomena such as optical trapping, optical lattice, Bose-Einstein condensate, atom interferometer, squeezing etc.
  • Nonlinear optics pump source e.g. second harmonic generation, parametric processes
  • Laser-based metrology such as precision laser interferometry and spectroscopy
  • Optical heterodyning and coherent communication
  • Optical length and frequency standards
  • High precision spectroscopy
  • Coherent beam combining

Highlight features of the new laser system:

  • Up to 7 W output power at 775-780 nm
  • Sub-kHz line-width
  • Ultra-low frequency and intensity noise
  • Wide wavelength tunability
  • Excellent beam quality
  • Single mode and single frequency
  • Fast wavelength tuning for external stabilization
