Yokogawa, a global leader in test and measurement technologies, has developed the AQ6374E Optical Spectrum Analyzer, a versatile instrument designed to operate over a wavelength range from 350 to 1750 nanometers. This exceptionally wide wavelength coverage allows the analyzer to handle both visible light applications, ranging from 380 to 780 nanometers, as well as critical telecommunications wavelengths.
The analyzer delivers high precision with a wavelength resolution of 0.05 nanometers across the entire range and maintains an accuracy of ±0.05 nanometers at calibration points of 633 and 1523 nanometers, with a guaranteed ±0.2 nanometers across its full spectrum. Its performance is further highlighted by a close-in dynamic range of 60 dB and a measurable level range extending from +20 dBm down to -80 dBm. Sensitivity is rated at -80 dBm within the 900 to 1600 nm region and -70 dBm from 400 and 900 nm.
Speed and measurement depth are also defining features of the AQ6374E. The system can complete a 100 nm span scan in just half a second under automatic sensitivity settings, while each sweep can capture as many as 200,001 samples, enabling detailed analysis over wide spectral ranges. This combination of speed and depth makes the instrument ideal for applications that require both rapid monitoring and high-resolution detail.
Ease of use has been prioritized through a 10.4-inch capacitive multi-touch LCD that offers a tablet-like experience, allowing users to zoom, drag, and adjust parameters with intuitive gestures. Advanced data handling is supported through functions such as simultaneous multi-trace display, arithmetic operations like subtraction, and Max/Min Hold tracking, while a total of seven trace memories allow flexible comparison of results. Connectivity is enhanced with four USB ports that support external storage, mouse and keyboard use, and a convenient thumbnail preview system simplifies navigation through files stored internally or on external devices.
With this combination of wide wavelength coverage, high resolution, speed, and user-friendly operation, the AQ6374E sets a new benchmark for optical spectrum analysis, catering to the growing demands of both visible and telecom wavelength testing.
