The Span of an Optical Spectrum Analyzer (OSA) refers to the range of wavelengths or frequencies over which the instrument can analyze the optical spectrum of a signal. It determines the width of the spectrum that the OSA can display and measure.
Span is measured in the units of frequency or wavelength and is commonly measured in nm.
