Toptica Eagleyard, a leading developer of advanced diode laser solutions, has expanded its Mini-ECL product line with a new fiber-coupled model at 780 nm, combining narrow linewidth, wavelength tunability, and mechanical robustness in a compact, ready-to-integrate format. Tailored for applications in atomic physics, quantum optics, metrology, and spectroscopy, the new laser is designed to deliver exceptional spectral performance with enhanced ease of use.
The new Mini-ECL at 780 nm is based on a monolithically integrated external cavity diode laser design that achieves a typical linewidth of less than 100 kHz, ensuring the coherence and frequency stability required for precision applications. It offers a large mode-hop-free tuning range, enabling fine control for resonance targeting and laser locking. The laser operates at a nominal wavelength of 780 nm, a critical range for rubidium-based systems commonly used in atomic clocks, cold atom experiments, and quantum research.
This model features a factory-aligned polarization-maintaining (PM) fiber output, eliminating the need for in-house alignment and significantly simplifying system integration. It provides a typical output power of 10 mW through the fiber, with optional upgrades up to 20 mW available for applications requiring higher optical power. The output polarization is stable and aligned with the slow axis of the PM fiber, supporting interference-sensitive applications and polarization-dependent experiments.

The Mini-ECL is housed in a hermetically sealed butterfly package, ensuring mechanical robustness and excellent thermal stability. It includes an internal thermoelectric cooler (TEC) and a thermistor for precise temperature control, supporting long-term wavelength stability even under varying environmental conditions. The unit is designed to be driven by standard butterfly laser diode controllers, further streamlining its integration into existing laboratory or OEM setups.
By combining ultra-narrow linewidth performance, fiber-coupled convenience, and plug-and-play operation, the new Mini-ECL at 780 nm offers a practical and high-performance solution for researchers and system integrators working with rubidium-based systems or other near-infrared atomic transitions. It delivers the reliability and precision expected from Toptica Eagleyard’s diode laser platforms while meeting the growing demand for compact and stable light sources in quantum and photonics technologies.
