NLIR, a leader in high-speed infrared sensing solutions, is expanding its spectroscopy offering through its TRANSMISSION Interface. This cutting-edge optical system is engineered to deliver rapid, non-invasive mid-infrared (MIR) transmission measurements, enhancing analysis capabilities for transparent and semi-transparent materials across various industries.

Optimized Design for Seamless Integration

The TRANSMISSION Interface is meticulously designed to work in harmony with NLIR's FIBER Light Source and MIDWAVE Spectrometer, forming a cohesive system that captures detailed spectral data in mere milliseconds. It supports an optical bandwidth of 2 - 5 μm and achieves a transmission efficiency of approximately 40% when using 200 and 400 µm optical fibers. A Calcium Fluoride (CaF2) collimation lens ensures high optical clarity and compatibility with MIR wavelengths, enabling accurate characterization of materials such as plastic foils, optical coatings, thin films, and gases.

With its SMA-905 fiber connectors and a compact housing (65 x 77 x 29 mm), the TRANSMISSION Interface integrates seamlessly into existing laboratory or industrial test environments. Weighing just 220 g, the unit is also suitable for mobile or space-constrained setups. The mounting design includes four corner holes compatible with M6 screws and additional threaded holes for M3 screws around the light path for securely holding samples or custom fixtures.

Versatile Applications Across Industries

The TRANSMISSION Interface is adept at analyzing a wide array of materials, including plastic foils, thin films, optical coatings, and gases. Its rapid data acquisition capabilities make it an invaluable tool for sectors such as:

  • Manufacturing: Quality control of thin films and coatings
  • Pharmaceuticals: Analysis of organic compounds
  • Research and Development: Material characterization and process optimization

With this addition to its MIR product lineup, NLIR once again demonstrates its commitment to pushing the boundaries of mid-infrared technology. By enabling fast, accurate, and scalable transmission spectroscopy, this innovation equips researchers, engineers, and quality assurance teams with the tools they need to better understand materials, streamline production, and drive smarter decision-making across industries. As the demand for real-time, non-invasive analysis continues to grow, NLIR remains at the forefront - delivering precision, performance, and reliability where it matters most.
