The Emerald 36M from Teledyne e2v is a 36 Megapixel B&W/Color CMOS Image Sensor that has a resolution of 6144 x 6144 in a square (1:1) aspect ratio. It has a global shutter with an 8/10/12 bit ADC that delivers a frame rate of up to 87 fps in 10 bit and 42 fps in 12 bit. This image sensor has a dynamic range of 64.5-67 dB with a maximum SNR of 37.7 dB and quantum efficiency of 66%. It has a readout noise of 2.2 to 2.5 e- with a shutter efficiency of 10000 e-. This image sensor consumes up to 3.5 W of power and can be controlled via an SPI interface.

The Emerald 36M&rsquos high resolution improves inspection accuracy, increases throughput through an optimized inspection system path, and covers wider areas for surveillance or aerial mapping. This image sensor leverages its high frame rate to increase inspection system throughput and to provide smooth and blur-free motion capture. Its low noise combined with its high sensitivity provides exceptional low-light capabilities. This image sensor supports a broad range of embedded functions such as multi-ROI, real-time HDR, image statistics, binning, sub-sampling, pixel/FPN correction etc. It uses a 16/32/64 channel scalable LVDS interface for output.

The Emerald 36M is available in a ceramic μPGA package that measures  37 x 42 mm and is ideal for high-end electronic and FPD inspection, 3D AOI & metrology, high-end surveillance, aerial imaging & mapping, earth observation, scientific cameras & microscopy, entertainment and medical applications.
