The OH0TA from OmniVision Technologies is a 160K CMOS Image Sensor that improves visualization of tissues by providing images with fine details during medical procedures such as neuro, ophthalmic, ENT, cardiac, spinal, urology, gynecology, arthroscopy, dentistry, veterinary diagnosis, and surgery. It is based on OmniVision’s PureCel Plus-S stacked die technology that quadruples the RGB image resolution to 400 x 400 and reduces the power consumption by 20 %. The pseudo-global shutter sensor has a frame rate of 30 fps, a pixel size of 1 µm2, and an optical size of 1/31 inches. It provides high color fidelity and has a low-light sensitivity of 3600 mV/lux-sec with a high signal-to-image ratio of 37.5 dB.
The image sensor features a 15.5° chief ray angle which enables a high field-of-view and short-focus distances. It requires a DC supply of 3.3 V and can be controlled via an SPI interface. The image sensor can also interface with OmniVision’s OV426 analog-to-digital conversion bridge chip for backward compatibility and is autoclavable for reusable endoscope sterilization. It is available in a package that measures 550 x 550 μm.
